Waiting is the worse

It’s been a little over 2 weeks since they crucified the Savior. Jesus had died on the cross, but the disciples knew had arose from the dead. Jesus has shown himself to Mary at the tomb (John 20:11-17). Jesus had proved himself to Cleopas and his friend on the Emmaus road (Luke 24:13-22).He proved himself to 10 disciples that were gathered in the upper room (Mark 16:14). Thomas didn’t believe because he had not seen, and Jesus proved himself to Thomas and said look and feel, Thomas, I am He who was crucified (John 20:26-29). Jesus no longer walked with them in his earthly form daily, so the disciples went back to their normal

routine, they went back to their daily jobs and duties. In the middle of their normal lives, Jesus proved himself to them again, just waiting on the shore (john 21). They went back to feeling alone, of trying to make sense of the world they lived in, of trying to find a normal after having a personal relationship with the savior Jesus Christ. But they were not alone, Jesus was there, and although at first, they didn’t know who he was, Jesus was waiting for them.

I wonder today, if anyone feels like these disciples? Does anyone out there feel alone? Does anyone have a hard time trying to make sense of the world we live in and your place in that world? Is anyone out there trying to figure out what to do with this Savior Jesus Christ? Can he really bring peace to my daily struggles (John 16:33)? How can he prove himself to me like he did Mary, and the disciples?

Let me say today that if you are looking for answers to questions like these, help can be found in salvation through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). That HE is a very present help in our time of need (Psalms 46). Although he doesn’t walk with us in the physical body, he is made close to us by his resurrection (Eph. 2:13). By faith in him and his redemptive work (Eph. 2:8, Rom. 10:9&10), He will be made very visible, through the eyes of faith. If you are without God in your life, if you have never repented of your sin, now enlightened of the great love shown to us by Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:8), you can find that forgiveness and peace that only he gives.

If you have been following Jesus, and now, like the disciples, you’ve went back to the things you did before. You’ve moved back to the routine or the rut you used to travel. Jesus has not left you, you got on board the boat, you cast out to sea, but Jesus, he’s on the shore. He has the same question for you, that he had for Peter, “Do you love me?” The disciples tried to go back to the old normal, but no one can ever go back to the old normal, once you’ve committed to a relationship with Jesus! We may not be able to gather in worship or study in the traditional ways, but there’s time to be alone with him and study his word. We can show the love of Christ by helping our neighbors and elderly in this time of crisis. Most importantly, we can love, just like Jesus was walking right beside us everyday!
